Kimi Sells the Runtime, Not the Model

Moonshot turned the agent harness into a hosted service, moving its commercial value from model access to operating infrastructure.

Moonshot AI launched Kimi Hosted Agents on 5 November 2026, offering the harness that runs agents as a hosted cloud service rather than a framework customers must build. Enterprises get a continuously available environment supporting long-running tasks and multi-agent collaboration, without maintaining sandboxing, session state, tool calls, permissions or recovery themselves. Two deployment paths are targeted: internal monitoring and response, and customer-facing research or support assistants. The company says building comparable infrastructure in-house typically takes months.
