Hackers Raised Supermarket Freezer Temperatures Remotely
Refrigeration systems in supermarkets across several European countries were attacked by hackers who remotely raised temperatures, according to reporting on Wednesday, 4 November. The intrusion targeted building-management systems rather than payments or customer records, which places it in a different category from a data breach. The exposure is physical — spoilage, food-safety reporting and recalls — and it exists wherever facility networks share infrastructure with IT.
